TRIBUTE TO OUR GRANDPA, HORII G. A. AGWO @ 90.

It's amazing how we wish for one thing but God gives us something better and precious. 

You have been not just a grandpa to me but also a source of inspiration. 

I always say to anyone who cares to listen how I cannot step my foot on our hometown and leave without not seeing you, that's not possible. 

Going through your journey through life, I can't help but being thankful to God each day on your behalf.

I pray that the good Lord would continue to bless and preserve you, give you good health of mind and body and His peace which surpasses all human understanding.

Happy 90th Birthday Nna, I hope someday I'll grow to be as wise and as amazing as you. I love you.

Horii GA Agwo is exceptional in many respects but I find him most profound on matters regarding the people and culture of Afikpo (Ehugbo).

From what I was able to glean, it will be difficult to talk about any aspect of the authentic cosmology of Ehugbo without a mention of this rare creature. 

As he zooms into the 9th floor which is only attained by God's grace, I am gladdened that he is being celebrated. 

Horii Agwo already has a well-deserved place in Afikpo history; far more than a footnote.

May this uncommon repository continue to enjoy good health as God bestows him with more years.

A Tribute to Our Beloved Daddy

Daddy, we will first of all congratulate you for attaining the age of ninety (90) years.  We thank God who made it possible for you to reach this age. May his name be exalted and glorified now and forever.

In the first instance, we chose you to be our spiritual father for what we saw in you - love, care, trustworthiness, integrity and down to earth realistic. You don’t pretend about any situation.  You took us in as your biological children.  You have always lived up to your responsibility to us.

The love and care you showed us has now transcended into our daughter, Stella who sees you as her grandfather and can’t do anything with you. You have maintained these virtues even to your old age.

Daddy, we don’t know how to thank you for all your goodness to us.  We only pray that God will add more years to your life to give us more opportunities to repay your love for us.

A CELEBRATION OF LEGACIES OF A RARE GEM*

'Nwere m', from 'Ikwu Ibe-Okwu' Maternal Family, you have admirably maintained an impressive age progression up to the watershed golden age of 50. At sixty(60), it was like your life was just starting, considering all the associated intimidating exploits.

Three Scores and Ten(70 year) is generally a Biblical age. *You hit it! You hit 80!* 

On top 

of it at your current Ninety(90) years is divine, only graciously endowed people like you by the Almighty God for reasons of potential beneficial impacts to humanity.

It feels real exciting sharing in your joy at your turn of 90 years of age this 20th day of January, 2023. Most fascinating, barring vicissicitudes of life, is celebrating you in good health, strength, peace of mind, intellect, mental acuity bereft of age-related amnesia, and joy of the gift of quality children.

The legacies you have so far bequeathed to mankind are diverse within this your life journey of 90 years.

To the community, you have so far bequeathed love, leadership, philanthropy and peaceful coexistence; as well as upholding of cultural norms, and traditional values of Ehugbo. Your case is like the vintage wine, that is getting sweeter and stonger with age.

You have impacted people positively in many aspects of life. In the education sector, you bequeathed quality teaching and scaled up academic excellence. Still in the knowledge industry, as a writer, linguist, historian, counsellor, and consultant, you touched lives most enduringly in varying ways. As a character, you are reputed in oratory and godliness. That is vintage you. 

With all these and more, we thank God for the gift of you to mankind. We cannot ask for more.

Your many Books and write-ups are, thus far, on top of these celebrated, yet bequeathed legacies to humanity. Your Autobiography(My Journey Through Life), for instance, presented to the public in April 2022, is joining the league of Bestsellers in the literary world. Your *'Reflections On The Ways of Nd' Ehugbo'* column in almost every edition of our one-time *Afikpo Today Magazine* were readers' delight, and vivid portrayal of our Afikpo culture, tradition and cherished values. 

My 17 years in the production of Afikpo Today Magazine as a reader for error, and occasional editing of it for quality, was a worthwhile experience working with you in those our production years of the Magazine at Mukandasi Street, Lagos.

Tapping into your vast wealth of experience and philosophies gave me added packaging literarily. 

Our closeness then convinced you as to your choice of me as the Editor of the said 422-page Autobiography/Memoir of yours. Additionally, in that my 'Foreword' to your Memoir, I summed up its import and alluded to your life in one of the paragraphs as follows: "Octogenerian Agwo, showcased from 1933-2016, is a handbook for teachers, manual for administrators, moral compass and service booklet for politicians, a lesson in seriousness and determination to students, and general-interest reading for knowledge and wisdom to the wider public". A legacy indeed it is, laden with philosophy of life. Again, our dear Horii, that is vintage you!

Seven years after unveiling the Autobiography, it cannot be controverted that you have added more fillips to lives and living of people, even transcending relationship and familial ties. 

With your current form at 90, only God can prove my expectation wrong in my conclusion of the alluded Foreword thus: "Worldwide, people as strong and intellectually endowed as Chief Gabriel Anigo Agwo have lived up to a hundred years of age. Toeing this uncommon path makes this your autobiography a first edition, keeping us in expectation of a second, updated or revised edition. We are indeed in high expectation".

At this juncture, 'Nwere m' , I join your numerous well-wishers and admirers to wish you *Happy 90th Birthday Anniversary*, in good health, strength and vitality.

TRIBUTE TO HORII GABRIEL AGWO - Oracle 

“Perhaps nobody has changed the course of history as much as Historians”

I owe my knowledge of the history of the Ehugbo (Afikpo) people to you. I also owe my deliberate actions at improving the future of our people to you. In your memoirs we have the ability to study our past and define our future. 

Oscar Wilde once said and I quote - “Anybody can make History, Only a Great man can write it”. Your greatness is guaranteed in the stories of our people to be told a thousand years to come. You’ve lived a life that has contributed immensely to the people of Afikpo and the same History you’ve documented will always remember you for all you have done. 

Living to the ripe age of 90years is a blessing that is not far fetched from the reward of being a custodian of our history and one that must see so much of it. 

I have nothing but great admiration for you and I want to wish you a Very Happy Birthday.
