Papa, as you clock 90, I am privileged to say that after God, you have played the greatest role in shaping me.
From my dashing good looks (ha ha) and youth, to your enquiring mind and love for humanity. You see the funny side, even while handling the most challenging situations. Your thirst for knowledge is unparalleled.
You and Mama sacrificially gave us the very best and exposed us to the world. I fondly remember the newspaper man dropping off my weekly subscription of ‘Lance Spearman’, ‘Boom’ and other comics. On one occasion, even though I was still very young, you took me to Enugu to attend a Trade Fair and experience new things. You always empowered me to think independently and make my own decisions.
As I hear people talk about you, and see them coming from all over the world seeking your wisdom and counsel, I am in awe that I can just walk into your bedroom any time of day or night without any formalities, because you are MY dad!
I am eternally grateful Papa, for giving me a special advantage in this journey through life. God bless you!

TRIBUTE TO A RARE GEM (HORII ANIGO AGWO) @ 90!
Mere words will not describe you, Papa. Having you as a father is one of the best things I have in this world.
The upbringing, love and care you and Mama gave us is what gave birth to the fulfilled life we live today. Even as teachers with modest income, both of you sacrificed a lot for us and the entire community. You are the best hands!
As you attain this 90 years of age, a *nonagenarian* , we celebrate you, we love you. Remain blessed, Papa.

The sound and shape of the whip is always interesting,
When it is not active, that is.
Otherwise, it creates moments of dread,
Enforcing attention, and weak knees.
It would seem to many,
The best way to maintain alertness.
Yet, there's the very few,
Whose means, in time, leaves you speechless.
And one of these special ones is Gabriel.
Fitting name for one who's vocation is to give,
Bringing to budding hearts and minds,
Gifts of the means to live.
As growing ones close to our teens,
It isn't unusal to be distracted.
And yet you could call Gabriel a mind shepherd.
He keeps his wards safe and captivated.
I still see him gliding in front the class,
With a white chalk in his right hand,
Left hand behind his back,
And a reassuring half smile
His means are deliberate and thinking of it now, beautiful..
Always gently coaxing,
Never intentionally taxing,
And all the while maximising.
To be able to recall your face right now,
Is a testament that is timeless,
Rich in imparted knowledge,
And a comforting privilege.
Some will be proud to call you Chief,
A selected few will be proud to call you son and brother,
A grateful bunch will call you Father and Grandfather.
Many will call you friend.

We first met in England Dec. 2001 at our residence 8 Somerset Waye, Heston/Osterley TW5 9HG, when you came on a visit with your wife to see my very close friends, Furo and her husband, Austin, your son. It is amazing how we have kept in touch with each other every year till present.
You are wonderful.
You will always make the effort to come and visit me at our house in Lagos with Eddy, your son anytime you come into town and call regularly to ask after us. I am now friends with all your children. Your immense knowledge and quest for more amazes me.
This is a time for looking back with pride, over what you have accomplished, and looking ahead, with a smile filled with satisfaction and joy knowing you have done it and continuing with fresh renewed energy on the sweet path that the Lord has for you. …
